5 Must-Have Princess Tiana Experiences to Fulfill Your Inner Child
Many were disappointed with the news that a Princess Tiana series was canceled at Disney+, but probably none more than the character’s voice actress, Anika Noni Rose. On Tuesday, March 11, the actress-singer shared a statement about ‘Tiana’ being scrapped while it was still in development.
“As hurtful as it is for anything you’ve put your heart and soul into to be prematurely ended, my hope is that when what is now to be a Tiana Special Event airs, that all of you beautiful, loving, loyal fans who’ve been championing not just the series, but a Princess and the Frog sequel, tune in,” she expressed.
But Princess Tiana fans don’t have to wait for the ‘Tiana’ special to celebrate Disney’s first Black princess. Below are five ways to ensure the Disney Legend lives on.
Take On Raging Bayou Adventure Waters
The log flume ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened last year in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Disneyland’s Frontierland area. In the ride, visitors can see an updated animatronic version of Princess Tiana and experience some thrills while revisiting “The Princess and the Frog” classics “Down in New Orleans” and “Almost There.”
Dine Like Royalty
For down-home Louisiana-style dining at Disneyland, check out Tiana’s Palace. With this sit-down establishment, guests can feast on jambalaya, shrimp and grits, macaroni and cheese and Princess Tiana’s speciality, beignets.
Makeover Fit for a Princess
Whether you’re at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Disneyland or Magic Kingdom or can do makeup yourself, grab your most colorful eyeshadow palette and try green and golden shades to look like Princess Tiana. Wearing her costume isn’t reserved for cosplay or Halloween but could be fitting for the next Mardi Gras.
Cozy Up With Princess Tiana-Dedicated Read
There are plenty of Disney-published Princess Tiana books, but last year, Anika Noni Rose published a children's book, “Tiana's Perfect Plan,” with stunning illustrations by Olivia Duchess. Without giving the synopsis, the book follows Tiana and Prince Naveen returning to the Big Easy to make it a Mardi Gras to remember.
Throwing a “Princess and the Frog” Watch Party
Why worry about the next Princess Tiana project when the original is right there? On December 11, “The Princess and the Frog” celebrates its Sweet 16, which makes it perfect timing for at-home watch parties with the movie, New Orleans-style hors d'oeuvres and singalong fun.
