DHS Secretary Driven Out Of Mexican Restaurant As Many Ask 'Where Are The Girls?' In Border Cages

Protesters yelled "shame" at Kirstjen Nielsen until she left.

After seemingly defending the White House’s decision to separate immigrant children from their parents when they cross the border, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was confronted by protesters while dining at a Washington, D.C., Mexican restaurant (of all places).

Members of the D.C. Democratic Socialists of America found Nielsen and a male friend eating at the restaurant on Wednesday night.

  • Eventually the protesters yelled "shame! shame!" at Nielsen

  • Nielsen was filmed fleeing from the restaurant shortly after

  • Meanwhile, people continue to ask why no photos of young girls have been released with the images of the detainment centers

Before getting shamed out of the restaurant, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was asked at Monday's press briefing about where the girls are being held.

    “I don’t know,” she replied.

The government has released photographs from inside the Casa Padre shelter in Brownsville, Texas, which showed images of only boys, prompting many to tweet #wherearethegirls.

  • After a demand for answers, Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) tweeted the girls are being held in separate facilities, some of which are in different states

In a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, HHS officials said they would release photos of detained girls and toddlers “within the next two days.”
