Viral Bride Who Refused to Wear Makeup at Her Wedding Says She Has No Regrets
Cayln Chapman wasn’t trying to make a statement when she decided to skip makeup on her wedding day. However, when the 25-year-old Nashville bride uploaded a video of her natural look to TikTok, the internet had plenty to say.
The clip, which has now garnered over 25 million views, shows the young bride preparing for her Jan. 27, 2024, wedding with nothing more than face wash, moisturizer, and clear lip gloss. In the caption, she proudly shared that she chose not to wear makeup, and the comments rolled in.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Chapman explained that the decision wasn’t made lightly. She had considered bridal makeup artists, watched beauty tutorials, and weighed her options, but ultimately, she went with what made her feel most comfortable.
“I believe that God made me perfect just the way I am, blemishes and all. And I wanted to embrace that,” she told the outlet. “I also didn’t want to risk spending a lot of money on a makeup artist and potentially not liking the way I looked on the big day.”
Chapman, who didn’t grow up around people who sported makeup, says her family and bridesmaids weren’t surprised and fully supported her choice. On the big day, she says her skin was clear, and more importantly, she was happy.
“I don’t think there will be any other event in my life quite like my wedding,” she continued. “If I can go makeup-free for that, I think I can go makeup-free for anything.”
Despite the backlash, the newlywed says she’s received countless messages from young women who felt inspired by her decision, with some sharing that they’re now considering going natural for their wedding or even prom.
