Tamar Braxton had to shut down some heinous affair rumors regarding her sister Toni Braxton’s husband, Birdman, aka Bryan Williams. 

During an appearance on “The Sherri Show,” Tamar insisted that her relationship with Birdman was always just friends, and she introduced him to her sister Toni after he expressed interest. “The truth is I introduced Toni to her husband,” she said, adding that she and Bryan “were friends first, like, real platonic friends.” 

Tamar pushed back on speculation that anything romantic ever happened between her and Birdman, calling the gossip “preposterous” and saying she considers Birdman to be family. “That’s my brother,” she told Sherri, frustrated that private friendships are being twisted into tabloid narratives. Tamar said Birdman once dated a friend of hers years ago, then became close pals with Tamar as he and Slim [Williams] reportedly discussed signing her to Cash Money Records. She said this was all before Birdman and Toni were introduced.

Tamar’s context brings some clarity to Toni and Birdman’s timeline. Toni and Birdman have been close for years. Toni has previously shared that they’ve been friends for more than 25 years. Their relationship turned romantic in the late 2010s, and they were quietly married in 2024. Toni however, filed for divorce two days later and then withdrew the petition months after as the couple reconciled.

Tamar also shared that the Braxton family ties are healing. She described improved relations with her sisters and urged critics to stop weaponizing rumors about close family relationships. “We’re all accountable for the things we’ve said and done, but we’re working on it,” she said.
