2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 Blazing Singles from This Year’s ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary)’ Nominees
One hot single from the music industry’s most prominent artist has the ability to shift the culture. It’s even better when two big stars come together for the collaborative effort. The duos nominated at the 53rd Annual NAACP Image Awards gave us some of the hottest records about love, love lost, and paid homage to iconic stars. Ahead of this year’s ceremony, check out the (contemporary) duos in the race for an award.
Anthony Hamilton feat. Jennifer Hudson - “Superstar”
During an interview with City Metro, Hamilton revealed that “Superstar” featuring the multi-talented singer-songwriter and actress Hudson is “definitely” one of his favorite songs on the album. “That’s one of my favorites. It’s such a beautiful rendition, and it pays homage to the late, great Luther Vandross.”
Chlöe x Halle - “Georgia On My Mind”
R&B duo and real-life sisters Chloe x Halle have been perhaps when they were in the womb, and it consistently shows in their music. Their cover of Ray Charles’s 1960 “Georgia On My Mind” was featured in an ESPN commercial ahead of the Master’s Tournament, which takes place in Georgia.
Jazmine Sullivan feat. H.E.R. - “Girl Like Me”
Jazmine Sullivan and H.E.R team up for this guitar-lead ballad about a relationship loss. The dynamic duo effortlessly sings about the loss of a relationship and the pain and confusion felt in the aftermath.

Leela James feat. Anthony Hamilton - “Complicated” (Remix)
Veteran Soul single Leela James earned her second No. 1 thanks to the bouncy love song “Complicated.” Capitalizing on the success of the single Leela–to listeners’ pleasure–linked up with soul crooner Anthony Hamilton for the remix. This is the first single from the vocal powerhouse since 2019.
Silk Sonic - “Leave the Door Open”
Grammy Award-winning superstar Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak debuted as Silk Sonic in March 2021with this r&b and Soul-laced track and became an instant hit. Co-written by .Paak and record producer Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II, the single, earned the group four Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and “Best R&B Song.”
