Music is its own character on Empire, carefully crafted to supoort the stories and often times taking center stage. In anticipation of the hit show's season two premiere — September 23 can't come soon enough! — we snagged an inside look at how the magic happens in the studio.
In the exclusive clip from the Empire season one DVD (out today), Jussie Smollett, Jim Beanz (who works with Timbaland on the show's sound this season) and executive producer Brian Grazer all share their perspective on the role music plays in the series. Jussie also describes in detail the story behind the song "Live in the Moment," including his and Yazz's first meeting with the show's music producer and beat-making legend Timbaland.
