Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are officially grandfathers…again! The Murphy-Lawrence family tree just got a brand-new branch!

During his appearance at the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony on April 18, Murphy confirmed that his son Eric Murphy and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Ari Skye. Murphy told E! News that the baby arrived “two weeks ago, or a week ago.” Granddad also shared that he’s not one to give parenting advice. 

“You know, your kids don't go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you,” Murphy said. “The stuff you be saying, they don't even pay that s--t no mind,” he joked. “They watch and see what you do. So, I don't give a lot of advice.”

The baby news is especially sweet for fans who have followed the couple’s love story from the jump. Eric and Jasmin first announced they were expecting in February, with Jasmin sharing a black-and-white photo that showed off her baby bump while Eric rested his head on her stomach. The pair later revealed their daughter’s name at a baby shower in March, when Jasmin posted a video announcing Ari Skye Murphy to the world. 

The baby’s arrival also deepens a family connection that already feels like a Hollywood royalty, full-circle moment. Murphy and Lawrence, longtime friends and collaborators, are now connected by a grandchild, adding another layer to a bond that has entertained the culture for decades.
