Velma Hart is a nonprofit operations and finance professional, formerly the CFO of AMVETS, a veterans service organization in Maryland. 

She garnered media attention for her question to President Obama during a September town hall meeting. 

Hart is a mother of two teen daughters, a wife and an Army Reserve veteran who is now, like so many Americans, looking for work through no fault of her own, but as a result of her organization’s downsizing.
