Kim Kardashian And Kris Jenner Sue Ray J for Spreading Racketeering Allegations
Ray J is under fire, yet again. This time, his ex and her mother, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, have filed a defamation suit against the “One Wish” singer over his recent public claims that they are under federal racketeering investigation.
“Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise — but this false and serious allegation left no choice,” their attorney Alex Spiro said in a statement to People.
The lawsuit singles out two instances in which Ray J allegedly made false statements: first, his comments made during the TMZ/Tubi documentary “United States vs. Sean Combs,” and recently, in a livestream where he told millions on social media that a federal racketeering investigation had been launched into the Kardashian family and that he is working with prosecutors on a RICO case.
“If you told me the Kardashians was being charged for racketeering, I might believe it,” Ray J is accused of saying. The suit alleges that despite his lack of credible evidence, Ray J repeatedly claimed criminal proceedings were underway, which the famous family claims has harmed their reputation.
“These statements were presented as factual assertions about ongoing federal criminal proceedings, not as speculation or opinion,” Spiro continued. “Ray J’s publication of these serious criminal accusations without any attempt at verification or corroboration from legitimate law enforcement sources—who would have readily confirmed that no such investigation exists—constitutes reckless disregard for the truth under the actual malice standard.”
According to the 13-page filing, Ray J’s statements were a part of a long pattern of “harassment and defamation” aimed at attaching his name to the Kardashian/Jenner brand. Spiro said that Ray J has been “unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over twenty years ago.”
Ray J and Kim broke up around 2005. In 2013, Ray J put out the infamous song, “I Hit It First” which featured suggestive visuals of Kim while she was married to rapper Kanye West. Five years later, it was reported that Ray J was sharing wild and intimate details about their former sex life. These new claims Ray J has about racketeering investigations seem to join a list of bothersome behavior.
“Ray J’s public statements are blatantly false,” Spiro said. “No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.”
Representatives for Ray J have not publicly responded to the lawsuit as of publication.
