Nelly and Ashanti are not holding back in the trailer for their new Peacock reality series, Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together,” and baby, the tea is piping hot. In a candid moment, the couple revealed just how deep the rift was after their 2013 breakup, with both of them using the word hate to describe the post-split energy.

“I hated her,” Nelly admits in the clip, straight-faced and unbothered. Ashanti didn’t hold back either, replying with her truth: “I hated him. I didn’t think that we would get back together.” But of course, the vibes switch quickly. That tension turns into tenderness, and before you know it, Nelly pops up again with a grin and says, “She got me, y’all”; a full-circle moment if we’ve ever seen one.

The show premieres June 26 on Peacock and promises an intimate, sometimes messy, but deeply entertaining look into the duo’s love story. They recently welcomed their first child together, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes, in July 2023. While they’ve kept most details about their son and life as new parents under wraps, the show will pull the curtain back on this next chapter.
