Hip Hop Awards 2023: DJ Drama Steals the Show With Star-Studded Lineup

Joined by Fabolous, T.I., Jeezy, and Lil Jon, the performance was one for the books.

The “BET Hip Hop Awards” 2023 paid homage to hip-hop as we celebrate its 50th anniversary. The mixtape era was one of the grittiest and most loved moments in hip-hop history because, with no politics involved, rappers were able to talk their talk with no limits, just straight raw bars. DJ Drama soared to higher heights with his debut mixtape with YG entitled I Told U So and followed up with his debut album, Gangsta Grillz, which solidified his spot and put him on the map.

During the 18th annual celebration, DJ Drama had a star-studded performance in his hometown of Atlanta when he performed on stage with Fabulous, T.I., Jeezy, and Lil Jon, rocking out to hit singles like ‘You Be Killin Em,’ ‘Rubber Band Man,’ and ‘Get Ya Mind Right.’

In an interview with Atlanta News First, the 45-year-old told the outlet how studying hip-hop helped him understand the relationship between DJs and artists.

“I studied hip-hop, and I knew the connection between DJs and artists,” the DJ previously told the publication.
