Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were literally living their lives as a couple at the Met Gala and the internet, naturally, decided to turn that moment into a dramatic storyline. 

After footage from Monday night’s Met Gala started circulating, social media users began speculating that Rihanna was snubbing Tyla and possibly arguing with Rocky. In one video, the couple appeared tense in the back of a sprinter van, and in another, Rihanna seemed to give Rocky a stern look while he chatted with Swarovski creative director Giovanna Engelbert, Ejae, and Tyla. 

But according to sources cited by TMZ, there was no real beef behind the scenes. The couple was reportedly “totally drained” after a long, packed day, with one source saying they were “running on empty” and that people were simply overanalyzing a tired moment. Not every serious face has a scandal behind it.

What made the moment spread so fast is that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are two of the most-watched celebrities on any red carpet, so even a glance can turn into a full internet theory. But the follow-up from sources and Tyla made it clear the situation was not a conflict.

Tyla also stepped in to shut down the rumor mill. In a TikTok video, she said Rihanna was “cool,” explained that the interaction was brief, and suggested Rihanna may have been preoccupied when they crossed paths. “My baby daddy’s calling me,” Rihanna reportedly said before leaving, according to Tyla’s recap. 

So no, the Met Gala did not get any Rihanna and Rocky relationship drama.
