Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige royally shocked fans when she made her post-Strength of a Woman stage performance for the 2017 BET Awards.

Glammed in all silver, Mary delivered soul-moving vocals as she crooned her 13th album’s single “Set Me Free.” A$AP Rocky even showed up for a “Love Yourself” stage rendition. But while the fans were mesmerized by Mary’s stage domination, there was one previously enlivened audience member whose energy battery seemed to coincidentally run out during the performance: Bruno Mars. Given Mary’s soul turn up, the camera capturing his magic turn down was a bit strange.
