LAPD: Straight Outta Compton Puts Us in Danger

Cops believe the movie fuels hatred of the police.

Several cops at the Los Angeles Police Department are pretty upset with the release of Straight Outta Compton as they believe the film paints them in a bad light, fueld hatred towards police and compromises their safety.

TMZ reports that the police feel the movie portrays LAPD officers as "beating machines" who brutalize innocent citizens in the inner city. Former L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine, who was also an LAPD police officer years ago, says the movie's release was untimely. "It's a terrible time to release a movie like this," he said. "It adds fuel to the fire for hating cops."

The site explains that the police they interviewed are upset because they have consciously been making an effort to create bonds in areas where police brutality was once rampant.

All of the blame isn't being placed on the film and those directly involved in its production, however. Some of the cops are pointing the finger at Universal, accusing the studio of putting profits of the film above the safety of the officers who keep the city safe. The cops continued, saying that given the current state of turmoil the country is in due to the numerous cases of police brutality, Universal should have waited to release the film.
