'The Oval': Five Questions We Hope Get Answered Soon

A lot is going on during this season of 'The Oval,' but there are also a lot of plot lines that still need answers.

Tyler Perry’s The Oval is back in full force, and there’s so much drama coming from every direction that it can sometimes be overwhelming to keep up. At the moment, Hunter is alert and aware of Victoria's affair with Eli, Lilly is still under Donald’s thumb, Jason, and continues to threaten to take his parents down. But wait, there’s more. Here are five questions about what’s going on in The Oval Universe.

Where is Gayle?

Several seasons ago, Hunter and Victoria decided to send their problem children away. They were supposed to go somewhere sanctioned by Victoria’s parents, where the discipline, and probably torture, would be plenty. The last time we saw Gayle, she was on a private jet with her maternal grandmother and Jason. Jason strangled their grandmother and then caused the plane to make an emergency landing. We learned that Gayle wasn’t hurt and that she had continued her journey on to the torture farm and we haven’t heard from her since. In a recent interview that we did with Ed Quinn and Kron Moore, who respectively play Hunter and Victoria, bother actors were tight-lipped about what was going to happen and whether we’d see Gayle again, or not. Still, Quinn did hint at the fact that a plotline may involve Gayle coming up soon. But do you actually miss her?

Where is Barry?

The Rakadushis play too many dang mind games. One of those games they like to play is faking people out, making them think someone is dead, when it’s not actually that person, but another person who favors them. Again, weird af, but that’s how they roll. Anyway, we learned that Barry isn’t dead, and that Richard and Nancy were victims to the Raku fakeout, but what could have happened to Barry? Is he being held hostage in the Raku compound?

Will Callie Ever Be Safe?

Remember Callie? That’s Barry’s daughter, who got kidnapped by Ruth and her Rakadushi goons. Sure, you could watch Ruthless to get more intel into what her life could be like, but we first met her here on The Oval, and haven’t seen her since. On Ruthless, Ruth, Callie’s mom, is on a mission to escape the cult, but if Ruth makes it out, what happens to Callie if Barry remains missing? This is all a mess.

Are Richard and Nancy Really Done?

Nancy has been problematic on this show since the beginning. She is the reason Ruth was able to kidnap Callie in the first place. We also learned that she had a baby on Richard while he was in the military. That baby belonged to Richard’s dad, and even worse is, she gave the baby to her sister to raise and pretended it was her nephew. Lawd, have mercy. Richard knows her secret now and is initially willing to forgive her, but he recently got more information about the tryst between Nancy and his pops and doesn’t like it.

Will Lilly Ever Boss Up For Real?

At one point, it seemed like Lilly had a good handle on her toxic situation with Donald, but not so much anymore. The last time we saw her, she knocked out a secret service agent, which is a really bold move, and freed the police officer who tried to help her. However, will Donald catch up to her at some point and finally put an end to her shenanigans? Or will she get the best of Donald first? She knows a lot, she just needs to link up with the right people.

Is There a Rakadushi to White House Connection?

This may be a bit out there theory, but it’s not impossible, especially on this show. However, wasn’t it weird that the Highest let Jason go? Do you think it’s because he was smart enough to recognize Jason as the first son and let him go? After all, he didn’t want government eyes on them. Or is there a bigger connection at play? Did he recognize Jason and let him go out of allegiance to some shadowy government official he’s working with? Is the Rakadushi having a connection to the White House a reach? Sure, the Raku’s claim they dislike the government, but anyone might be willing to link up with the enemy if the money or benefits are right.
