BET Awards 2022: 5 of the Funniest People to Host the BET Awards
Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, Jamie Foxx, and Academy Award-winning actress and industry veteran Mo’Nique, are just some of the many comedians who have hosted the BET Awards, the biggest night in Black entertainment.
Before you know it, the BET Awards 2022 award will be here. Like always, it’s sure to be an evening filled with show-stopping musical guest performances, dozens of awards presentations—given by some of the biggest names in Hollywood—and of course, an overflow of Black excellence. As we steadily prepare for this year’s event, check out five of the funniest people to host the BET Awards.
Taraji P. Henson
Award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson opened up the BET Awards 2021, “celebrating the year of the Black woman,” as a montage of prominent female figures scrolled across the screen. She added, “celebrating Black women isn’t a fad or trend. It’s a forever mood.”

The event was held at the Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV, and the following year at the former Kodak, now called Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
Mo’Nique
Academy Award-winning actress and veteran comedian Mo’Nique has hosted the BET Awards three times, in 2003, 2004 at the Dolby Theatre, and one more time in 2007, when the “Precious” star delivered several energy-packed, show-stopping performances.

Jamie Foxx
The multi-talented Jamie Foxx had viewers in stitches after hosting the 9th and 18th annual BET Awards. During the latter ceremony, Foxx brought fellow actor and comedian Donald Glover on stage for an improv performance of “This is America.”
Amanda Seales

Seals brought the funny but didn’t shy away from serious topics, including many police-involved shootings against Black citizens in America including Breonna Taylor and many of the other injustices they face.
