Tyga Addressed the #BlackLivesMatter Movement and This Writer Went Off

This got nasty quickly.

Accountability is big when you’re a celebrity and when it comes to Tyga and social justice, some have a problem with how he’s suddenly calling people out.

The Los Angeles rapper recently took to Twitter to relay his frustration with law enforcement in the wake of the police-involved shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. “They don't give a f**k if you innocent innocent innocent they'll kill you and say you was guilty. there's no justice being served,” he tweeted. “How would I look to raise my son in this world and teach him to honor a badge when were being taught to say f**k the police at a young age.”

Well, this had some people mad, including writer Cory Townes. He claims that Tyga’s past actions are enough to invalidate his feelings about police shootings and social justice.

“We’ll ask for your thoughts on police violence in the Black community when you want to properly represent the Black community, @Tyga,” he tweeted. “You, who parade your *underage* White woman, chose to sat on that side of the line for so long until you got kicked to the curb. @Tyga.” Ouch. Townes goes on, and it ain’t pretty. Tyga has yet to respond to the criticism lobbed at him.

Alton Sterling was shot multiple times in the chest Wednesday (July 6) after police pinned him down and discovered he had a firearm in the back pocket of his pants. Philando Castile, another African-American whose death sparked protest, was shot and eventually died after police believed that the identification he was reaching for inside of his car (which they requested he brandish) was a firearm. Both cases have raised questions as to whether the men were actually a threat to harm the officers who engaged them.

Check out all of Tyga’s tweets about police brutality and all of Cory Townes’s response to those tweets below.
