2023 NAACP Image Awards: 3 Laugh Out Loud Funny Voice-Over Performances From Kevin Hart
We’re just a few weeks away from the biggest celebration in Black Hollywood, the 2023 NAACP Image Awards, and ahead of the event, we’re highlighting some of the biggest names in the industry nominated at this year’s ceremony, including comedian and actor Kevin Hart who is up for “Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance - Motion Picture” for his role as Ace the Bat-Hound in Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC League of Super-Pets.
The longtime funnyman is up against several equally talented stars, including Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, Lyric Ross, and Academy Award winner Angela Bassett. In honor of his recognition, check out three laugh-out-loud funny voice-over performances from nominee Kevin Hart.
Ace the Bat-Hound / DC League of Super-Pets
Kevin plays Ace/Bat-Hound in DC League of Super-Pets and gains super strength and invulnerability after coming in contact with Orange Kryptonite. He later becomes Batman's pet dog. According to Krypto the Superdog, played by frequent collaborator and buddy Dwayne Johnson, he is 3/4 Chihuahua.
“Krypto and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis,” according to the film’s description. “However, when the Man of Steel and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a ragtag group of animals to master their newfound powers for a rescue mission.”
Snowball / The Secret Life of Pets
Kevin is the cute but dangerous white rabbit named Snowball, the leader of “the Flushed Pets,” a gang of drain-dwelling animals who hate humans because their owners mistreat and reject them. When the two dogs Snowball takes in turnout to be domesticated, the fluffy bunny vows to seek revenge, leading the Flushed Pets after them.
The Hollywood funnyman reprised his role as Snowball in the movie’s sequel, The Secret Life of Pets 2.
George / Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie follows two fourth graders, George Beard, and Harold Hutchins, played by Kevin and Thomas Middleditch, respectively, who accidentally hypnotize their mean principal, Mr. Krupp, voiced by actor Ed Helm, into thinking he is the titular "Captain Underpants,” a superhero who fights crime while wearing only underwear and a cape.
The computer-animated superhero comedy film is based on Dav Pilkey's children's novel series of the same name, Captain Underpants. The movie also stars Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele, Kristen Schaal, and many more.
