Cardi B's 'Invasion Of Privacy' Is The Most-Streamed Album By A Female Rapper Ever On Spotify

Her hit single, "I Like It," accounted for nearly a third of the album's streams, according to XXL.

Although Cardi B didn’t release a new album in 2019 following the success of her Grammy-winning debut, Invasion of Privacy, the rap star has continued to keep a strong grip on the charts.

  • Over a year after its release, her career-commencing studio album just notched another record achievement. On Sunday (Dec. 29), popular music industry analytics system Chart Data reported via Twitter that the 13-track project has surpassed more than 2.8 billion plays on Spotify. This makes Invasion of Privacy the most-streamed rap album by a woman in the platform's history. The streaming giant has not yet verified Chart Data’s news at the time of this reporting, however.

According to XXL, Cardi’s Latin-influenced platinum-certified hit, “I Like It,” with reggaeton icon J Balvin and Latin trap sensation Bad Bunny, accounted for nearly a third of those streams, racking up more than 974,657,660 streams, reportedly.

  • Cardi has not reacted to the milestone, either. Nonetheless, it’s hard to deny that the Bronx rap favorite will be starting off 2020 on a strong note. Most recently, reports held that Cardi landed a role in Fast & Furious 9, which is expected to hit theaters in May 2020.

In November, Cardi also told Billboard that she’s gearing up for her next musical era with the release of her sophomore studio offering in 2020, which she previously teased that she might name after golfing icon Tiger Woods.

  • “There's certain music that I want to do, but I feel like [are] people interested in that? I feel like things have changed. It's more like a twerk sound going on right now. It's just like, ‘Should I just do my music around that?’ But I cannot just go with what's hot. I still gotta go with what I want to do,” she told the publication. “I'm just having fun in the studio, because if you think, ‘My first album was like this, I gotta have the same recipe,’ it's just not gonna work.”
