Tyler, The Creator Scores Fourth Straight No. 1 With ‘DON’T TAP THE GLASS’
Tyler, the Creator just added another win to his streak. "DON’T TAP THE GLASS" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Aug. 2, pulling in 197,000 equivalent album units in just four days. The album dropped on a Monday, July 21—off-cycle compared to the usual Friday release—but fans still showed up, and the numbers reflected that.
Most of the week’s total came from pure sales. "DON’T TAP THE GLASS" moved 128,000 copies, pushed heavily through Tyler’s webstore. The drop included five physical formats—a vinyl, a CD, and three deluxe box sets packed with branded clothing and a CD. Each version came with one bonus track that wasn’t included in the 10-song digital edition. Those exclusive physical bundles gave fans something special and significantly boosted sales figures beyond those from streaming alone.
The rollout was fast. Tyler teased the project on social media, confirmed it on July 18, and released the full album by the following Monday (July 21). Even with just four days of tracking, the project hit No. 1 without hesitation, showing the strength of his fan base.
Looking back, "DON’T TAP THE GLASS" follows three other No. 1 albums. "CHROMAKOPIA" opened at No. 1 earlier this year. "CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST" did the same in 2021. "IGOR" kicked off the streak in 2019. With this latest success, all eight of Tyler’s albums have now landed in the Billboard 200’s top 10, demonstrating his consistency.
This chart win also follows another off-schedule release. Just a week before, "JACKBOYS 2" dropped on a Sunday and also hit No. 1, but the Tyler stans didn’t allow that to last long. The music industry often sticks to a Friday release schedule, but Tyler and his team set their own timeline and continue to move heavy units.
