Prayers Up: Eric B's Daughter, Erica, Passes Away After Fatal Car Accident

The 28 year old was hospitalized after she was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler earlier this week.

It is with heavy hurts that we report that Erica Barrier, the daughter of rap icon Eric B, has reportedly passed away from her injuries sustained after she was involved in a serious car accident this past weekend. She was 28 years old.

  • On Monday (March 16), multiple reports stated that Erica was hospitalized following a horrific car crash in Hartford, Connecticut at around 1 a.m. Her vehicle was reportedly rear-ended by an 18-wheeler truck after the truck did not have time to properly break. The truck driver was not injured, but Eric B’s longtime publicist, Alvina Alston, confirmed via Instagram that Erica was in critical condition with “severe neck and spine fractures, among her many life threatening injuries.”

“The family is at her bedside and asking for your prayers,” the post read.

  • Tragically, Erica did not survive the accident.

On Tuesday (March 17), Alston shared another update on Instagram where she confirmed that Erica unfortunately passed away from her injuries.

“She fought a valiant fight, however we TRUST GOD & HIS ultimate decision to bring her home. We want to sincerely thank everyone from around the world for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time,” the post reads. “Please continue to keep our family in prayer as we now prepare to lay Erica to rest. This was an unfortunate vehicular accident that claimed her life however, and it’s also crucial that we pray for the other driver involved. Our hearts also go out to him and his family as we hold no ill will in our hearts for those involved.”

BET sends its love, light and prayers to Eric B and his family during this difficult time.
