Cardi B Deactivates Twitter And Instagram, Calls Out Her Fans

Her fans were reportedly upset that the rapper did not attend the 2022 Grammy Awards after being nominated for Best Rap Performance.

Cardi B has decided to take a break from social media after her fans were not happy that she was not attending the 2022 Grammy Awards.

According to Billboard, the “WAP” rapper deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Sunday evening (April 3) but before pulling the plug, the 29-year-old called out her fans.

She was nominated for “Best Rap Performance” for her song “Up,” which was ultimately won by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s track “family ties.”

“I'm deleting my Twitter but oh God I hate this f---in' dumb--- fan base,” Cardi wrote.

“You got the slow dumb***es dragging my kids all cause y'all [thought] I was going to the Grammys and I didn't? The f***?” she continued in another tweet. “When the f--- I hinted I was going? Just f---in stupid. I can't. I need to protect myself.”

Billboard also notes that Cardi once more where fans got the idea that she would be attending the Las Vegas Ceremony.

“When did I hype y'all up ?” Cardi said. “Where and when did I ever gave hints ? Like are you ok ? I'm not going to an award [show] if I don't got a new song to perform or [if] my album ain't out.”

“Next year," she added.

Prior to deactivating her Instagram, the Bronx rapper headed to IG Live to address the situation even further, according to E! News.

“Why would I go to the awards for?” she asked in the eight-minute clip. “Do I have any new music? Why would I show up with one nomination?”

This isn’t the first time that Cardi has taken a break from social media, back in March 2021 and in October 2020, the superstar removed herself from Twitter to take a break.

Black artists won big at the 2022 Grammys in the top four categories with Jon Batiste winning “Album of the Year,” Silk Sonic winning “Record of the Year,” Tyler the Creator winning “Rap Album of the Year,” and Jazmine Sullivan taking home the win for “R&B Album of the Year.”
