Here’s The Jaw-Dropping Reason Lil Wayne’s 'Tha Carter V' Didn’t Drop Today As Planned
Fans have been waiting years for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V to bless hip-hop heads everywhere. When his label, Young Money dropped the album cover and tracklist on social media, naturally, fans were amped for the highly anticipated release. With rumored features like Drake, Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar, who wouldn't be?
However, when Floyd Mayweather jumped the gun with this now-deleted post of the album art, captioned "#21," everyone immediately speculated that the album would drop on Friday (Sept. 21). This isn't the case.
Fans and social media concocted their own release date and that lack of an album is their fault.
All Young Money did was tease fans with the cover, but nobody from Weezy's team actually confirmed a release date.
Tha Carter V was first announced in late 2012 and was expected to be Tunechi's retirement album. Initially scheduled for a Dec. 9, 2014, release, the album became indefinitely shelved after Wayne bashed both Birdman and Cash Money on social media, saying, “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity.”
That following January, Weezy followed his tirade with a $51 million lawsuit against his former father figure and Cash Money "alleging breach of contract, failure to pay royalties and withholding advances, and requesting an audit of Cash Money’s books."
Since then, he and Birdman resolved their issues and in a recent interview, Lil Wayne announced that he is the sole owner of Young Money.
That tidbit didn't stop fans from blaming the missing album on the Cash Money co-founder.

More reports are swirling that the album is slated to drop December 9, the same date from its initial announcement from 2014, but as of now, this is all mere speculation.
