According to Variety.com, " The Dark Knight," which has grossed $996 million worldwide, will not be released in China.\r
A statement from Warner Bros. said the film will not be released in China due to, "cultural sensitivities in some elements of the film." It's hard to decipher what "cultural sensitivities" means.  However, Hollywood does not have a good history in giving fair representations of people of color.\r
The New York Times theorized, "The studio may have been concerned that censors would be offended by scenes shot in Hong Kong, including those in which Batman nabs a gangster. Another potential point of conflict: the film includes a brief appearance by Edison Chen, the Hong Kong singer and record producer who appeared in sexually explicit photographs with several women that were posted on the Internet this year."\r
Well, don't feel too sorry for the country that is credited for creating paper.  "The Dark Knight" has been available on bootleg in China since the film was released back in July.
