Ciara Has Been Announced As The Host Of The 2019 American Music Awards Show

Ciara performed at the 2018 AMAs, and now she will host this year’s event.

At last year’s American Music Awards, Ciara lit up the stage with an electrifying performance of her “Level Up” and “Dose,” marking her first performance at the AMAs since 2005. Quite true to her words, the R&B songstress is leveling all the way up this awards season. Come this year’s awards shows, the 34-year-old will be on the main stage.

  • On Thursday ( Nov. 14) Dick Clark Productions and ABC jointly announced that the songstress has been tapped to host the 47th iteration of the annual awards show, according to Billboard. Cici is no stranger to owning the stage. She’s previously co-hosted the 2016 Billboard Music Awards with Ludacris back in 2016, and now she will host the 2019 AMAs, which is set to air live on Nov. 24.

  • The “I Bet” singer took to Twitter where she elatedly shared the exciting news with her 11 million followers, writing, “I am so excited to finally share that I will be hosting this year’s [AMAs]...Let's go!”

  • In a second tweet, she shared a short clip of herself happy and smiling in a teeny Black bikini somewhere tropical as she blew a kiss to the camera. “We’re gonna have so much fun at the AMAs! Your Host CC! Can’t wait,” she signed off.

  • It was also announced on Wednesday that New Orlean’s very own Big Freedia will be performing at the AMAs. The extravaganza will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on what will no doubt be an exciting night.

The nominations for this year is stacked. OVO honcho Drake is up for “Artist Of The Year” against Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Ariana Grande and Halsey. Leading the new generation, Lil Nas X and Ella Mai are up for five nominations, including “New Artist Of The Year.” Although, they have some stiff competition from pop darling Billie Eilish, who dethroned Lil Nas’ record reign over Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

  • Voting is currently now open for all AMAs categories, where fans have a chance to cast their ballots online via Google before it closes on Nov. 20. Let us know who you think should win, and check out the rest of the nominees here.
