Angie Stone’s Final Farewell: Funeral and Public Viewing Details Revealed
Angie Stone is coming home one last time.
The Grammy-nominated singer, whose voice became a defining sound in neo-soul, will be laid to rest in her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, where her journey with music first began.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, March 15, at First Nazareth Baptist Church on Gervais Street, the very place where she first honed her powerful voice singing gospel as a child.
The viewing will take place from 12 PM to 2 PM, immediately followed by a celebration of life to honor her legacy.
Stone tragically passed away on March 1 at the age of 63 after the vehicle she was riding in flipped over and was struck by an 18-wheeler. The star had been on route to perform during the CIAA in Baltimore, Maryland, before her death.
Her sudden loss sent shockwaves through the music industry, with tributes pouring in from those who admired her groundbreaking artistry.
From auditioning for “Mother of Hip-Hop” Sylvia Robinson at a Sugar Hill Gang concert in South Carolinaher, to her early days with The Sequence, the second rap group signed to the iconic Sugar Hill Records, to her solo reign with hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Brotha,” Stone’s soul-stirring voice and honest storytelling cemented her as a force in R&B.
Fans, friends, and fellow artists have continued to pay tribute to her unmistakable voice, heartfelt songwriting, and contributions to the industry. Now, those who loved her will have the opportunity to bid a final farewell as she is laid to rest in her hometown.
