Kobe Bryant On The Set Of Destiny’s Child’s Music Video Resurfaces

A video of Beyoncé speaking on the NBA legend in a personal interview has also resurfaced.

Nothing really ever prepares you for death when it comes to take the lives of those you cherish the most.

Communities across the world have been in mourning since the grim news of Kobe Bryant’s passing in the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of the NBA legend, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria-Onore Byrant, John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan.

Longtime supporters of Bryant have found comfort in relics from the sports’ icon storied career that included a brief foray into rap.

  • Although, Byrant’s rap career was a short lived one, fans have often fondly looked back on the moment over the years. Throwback momentos from his storied career have been flooding social media as fans look back on some of those lighthearted moments. On Tuesday (Jan. 28), a fan account shared three clips on Twitter from when Bryant had linked up with R&B’s highly-favored girl group, Destiny's Child, in the early 2000s.

  • The first throwback was Bryant’s feature on the remix of the trio’s classic “Say My Name.”

“Kobe was a huge hip-hop fan so taking a try at rapping was inevitable for him,” the account wrote along with the clip.

The account followed that up with a snippet of the legendary hooper’s appearance in the music video for Destiny’s Child fan-favorite track, “Bug A Boo.”

  • The third keepsake was the infamous snippet from a one-on-one basketball game between a then 20-year-old Bryant and Mathew Knowles on the set of “Bug A Boo.” The fan account ended their commemoration with a photo of Beyoncé tightly hugging Bryant’s wife, Vanessa

“RIP Kobe Bryant & his baby girl, Gigi!!” the fan account captioned the photo. “God bless the whole Bryant family during these troubling times!”

  • In a separate tweet, another user shared a 23-second clip from an interview Beyoncé did in 2009 wherein the global superstar praised Bryant’s work ethic after a reporter asked her which NBA player she admired the most.

“I can always see that he’s focused, he works harder than I can ever imagine...it’s just like he’s just in the zone. He’s undeniable as far as his talent,” she effused.

  • These clips come as a somber reminder of the impression that Kobe and his love for the game left in the hearts of many as the world continues to mourn the lives that the world lost in Sunday’s tragedy.

BET continues to send its love, light and prayers to the Bryant family as well as the families of Christina Mauser, Sarah and Payton Chester, Ara Zobayan, and the Altobelli family during this difficult time.
