Let’s start at the beginning. According to Complex, the wedding chatter began when Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlock reported that his good friend Wendy told him she tied the knot to a NYPD officer named Henry at the end of July.

Shortly after the announcement, Page Six reportedly spoke to Wendy’s representative, who claimed the former talk show host “probably got carried away in the conversation.”

“That’s inaccurate. She is excited about a new relationship and probably got carried away in conversation. Wendy doesn’t wish to disclose details at the moment,” Will Selby shared with the media outlet when asked if Wendy was married.

Selby continued, "Wendy is excited about everything new in her life and her main priority is her health and shooting her first episode of her podcast. That’s the focus right now. You never know anything is serious when it comes to the affairs of the heart until it’s serious."

To solidify his original report, Lee later took to social media with the audio from his correspondence with someone on his phone labeled “Wendy Williams.”

In the brief clip, Wendy insisted she was a married woman.

“Everybody seems to have a problem with that. I’m married,” she expressed during the call. “I’m married! I don’t care who knows it. Will sees no point in me getting married. But you know what? F*** Will. Fourteen years I’ve known him. I’ve always said f*** him…in a good way, you know?”

In response to the call, Selby told ET Online that he had no intention of making seem as though Lee lacked credibility. He explained, “That is never my intent. All I did was respond to a question I was asked. Like I said previously, the focus is Wendy’s health and preparing to shoot the podcast."

Selby later told PEOPLE.com that Wendy’s relationship with Henry is in the "really, really early stages."

William’s brother, Tommy, told Page Six, “I’ve been with Wendy since the very beginning and she’s never talked like this, but I don’t think it’s her fault. It’s a precarious situation.”

He also said he spoke to his sister just last week. “She wasn’t getting married last week, I think it’s kind of crazy, and very unnerving.”
