Doechii Addresses Viral Onstage Slip During Her Sold-Out Tour Stop
Last week, Doechii took a tumble during her sold-out show, and she’s finally addressing the incident.
In a video posted on social media, the “Alter Ego” rapper clarified any misconceptions about her fall from the slide propped on stage, as some fans assumed it was part of the performance.
“I wanna talk about what’s going on with the slide because some of you are speculating that I’m doing it on purpose, which I’m not,” she shared with her audience.
The Florida native went on to explain that her “mechanical desk jerks when it moves,” which nearly caused her to fall during rehearsals.
To fix the issue, her team added grip tape to the surface, but that solution brought new complications.
“The grip tape is basically like sandpaper,” she said.
“So when I’m standing on it or sitting on it, I don’t move and fall over.”
That abrasive texture, however, is now ruining her performance outfits.
“My performance stockings are ripping because I’m performing on sandpaper,” she continued.
“So by the time I get to the part in the song for the slide, my bare ass cheeks are sticking to the slide because I’m sweating.”
The “Beverly Hills” artist added that while her crew tried to place a towel to protect her skin, “the wind from my big fat booty blows the towel away.”
During her performance of “Denial Is a River,” the multi-hyphenated star proceeded to go down the slide and slipped, saying, “Oh sh*t” before sliding down and gracefully getting up, continuing to perform before letting out a small giggle.
The “Crazy” rapper is currently on her Swamp tour, which concludes on November 15th in Los Angeles.
