  • KAREN

"You're not the woman I thought you were."

  • It appears that Zac and Karen have decided to accept their breakup and embrace their singleness. While Zac is back at Danni's apartment, Karen takes Aaron up on his offer to have dinner at her place. The two appear to be bonding just fine, and Aaron reveals to Karen that she is not the woman he thought she was, when they first met in the grocery store parking lot. When she asks him to elaborate, he simply reveals that while she is someone who is strong, she definitely has a softer and more vulnerable side than he initially imagined.

Later into their meal, Karen receives a few messages from Zac, but proceeds to ignore them, while she attempts to focus solely on her date with Aaron, and moving on.

  • ANDI

    "You're fired!"

  • We all knew it was coming. After dodging countless bullets and making multiple attempts to clean up her mess, Andi officially gets fired from the firm. Despite her successful attempt to convince Maurice and Jasmine to drop the charges against her and Gary, Andi's firm convinces Jasmine and Maurice to go forward in the lawsuit. When Andi asks the firm why, they allude to the idea that they want to make an example out of Andi as it pertains to hiring women of color, after their failed attempt at inclusion with Andi. The firm more or less plans to use Andi as a scapegoat, and tell her they've already hired a publicist to help them clean up their image. Part of that clean up - Andi's swift termination.

Meanwhile, Gary is at the hospital, and asks Andi to meet him there. When Andi arrives, she finds out about Jasmine's accident. Although Jasmine is still alive, Andi tells Gary that he needs a lawyer - only it can't be her. Andi calls in a favor to a friend, another male attorney, and Gary is immediately jealous and suspicious of his and Andi's past relationship. After the man flirts a bit with Andi, Gary is enraged, and tells the lawyer to leave.

  • Sabrina

"You need to stop judging that man."

  • First and foremost - Maurice is alive and already cracking jokes from the hospital bed. While Calvin is laid up in Sabrina's own bed after having one too many drinks over the loss of his father, he passes out. Sabrina soon gets a call from Maurice, who appears to be in good spirits, and goes to visit him at the hospital immediately.

While there, Maurice tells Sabrina that everyday of his life is a fight, and that he made sure put up a good one during his most recent attack. It's also revealed that Maurice's attacker was spotted on the news being taken into custody with two black eyes of his own, courtesy of Maurice. Despite Sabrina telling Maurice he does not have to always be in such high spirits, he tells her he prefers to keep a joyful and humorous attitude, but does have a serious moment long enough to give her some advice about Calvin. He asked Sabrina to stop judging Calvin and his unique ways. Before she leaves, Maurice breaks into a series of fake-tears, jokingly telling Sabrina that her dress and shoes are atrocious, and a fashion fail.

  • DANNI + ZAC

    Charles Bergmann/BET/Tyler Vision

"I'm trying to be the whole meal!"

  • We don't see much of Danni this episode, however, when we do, her and Zac are back at it arguing on her living room couch. Danni then asks Zac how does she look, to which he replies she is cute. Danni decides that cute isn't good enough, and that she doesn't want to be seen as a "snack," but rather, "the whole damn meal." She gets up to go shopping, leaving Zac alone.

After she leaves, Zac has a moment to himself, which he uses to reminisce about his past relationship with Karen. He even goes through some of their old photos on his phone, and sends them to her. Zac's alone time is soon interrupted when Lisa, Karen's mother, drops by unannounced, and tells Zac that her daughter still wants him, but a better version of him. She is even seen offering up some advice to Zac on how to win her daughter back. Looks like Ms. Lisa is team #Zaren" all the way.
