In the hilarious new comedy TAG, Hannibal Buress plays Sable, an inquisitive member of a middle-age team of tag players who are getting together for one last game. As the one Black friend in the group, Sable defies stereotypes by being one of the slowest, smallest and easiest to tag players, but the game wouldn’t be the same without him.

While talking with Hannibal and his co-star Jake Johnson (who plays the stoner Randy), we asked him about a freestyle from his podcast, The Handsome Rambler, where he wished aloud that he only had three toes, “so that I could get a discount on pedicures.” While that’s a pretty fiscally responsible wish, we wondered how that would effect his ability to be competitive in a game of tag.

“It depends on the toes. If you talking about that big toe, that’s gonna mess up your balance if that’s gone. Pinky toe is balancing, so it would have to be those middle toes.”

Jake chimes in that you can’t lose the very middle toe either, so that only leaves the second and fourth toes.

“They’re really only there for aesthetics.”

Find out how Sable and his crew make out in this game of TAG, in theaters June 15.
