Amber Rose, you in danger, girl.
The internet is clapping back hard at the author and Slut Walk founder after an interview surfaced of Rose basically saying she comes from an area, South Philly, where people aren't "traditionally attractive," and that the burden of being beautiful took its toll.
“I don’t know how I can say this without sounding f*cked up, but a lot of the people where I’m from aren’t traditionally attractive people,” Rose said. “For me, being blessed with beauty, as beautiful women know, is a blessing and a curse. To grow up in such an area and be blessed with beauty, it was very difficult for me.”
She continued that she “never felt like [she] belonged there” because she “always felt bigger than the city” is.
See Amber's full interview below. Admittedly, it looks like a lot of drinks were involved, but that doesn't give Amber a pass for what she said (and repeated a few times):
Amber later gave a sort-of apology, explaining that doing interviews is difficult:

Twitter isn't having it, though (and for good reason). Folks went in on Amber for basically saying she's better looking than the Black women she grew up with:
how does amber rose call herself a "feminist" & says she wants to empower women then turns around & calls women ugly pic.twitter.com/0AdjNfJNB8— taytay♛ (@tayyy_renne) July 27, 2017
What Amber Rose said shows how she feels about people in predominately black areas.Having lighter skin doesn't make you beautiful. Be humble pic.twitter.com/sXDnTJk7ZN— 🌻Shantanese Snow❄️ (@LunarSnow1) July 27, 2017
Amber Rose’s comment is one the reasons why there’s a stigma of light skin women thinking they’re prettier than everyone. But I digress...— ayanna 🌺 (@Maat___) July 27, 2017
