Chance the Rapper Says He's Still Surprised Whenever Kanye West Co-Signs Him

Chance talks about how Kanye has been there for him since 2004.

Chance the Rapper has been having an incredible week, to say the least.

From dropping his new mixtape Coloring Book to rave reviews to Kanye West calling him “one of [his] favorite people,” Chance has countless reasons to be grinning from ear-to-ear.

West took to Twitter a couple days ago, thanking Chance for “letting [him] work on this masterpiece,” as well as late last night (May 17), writing, “Chance too good. God level bars.”

Today (May 18), Chance is showing the love right back while also detailing his gratitude that West has been there for him since 2004.

“It’s crazy cause I feel like I met Kanye the first time I heard We Don’t Care. Like he’s been there for me since 2004,” the 23-year-old rapper wrote. “Kanye was there when I tried out for the talent show, the first time I knew a kid who passed away, the first time I got suspended.”

“But still, every time I talk to him it feels foreign,” he continued. “I still get nervous and starstruck. I’m still surprised when he likes my ideas.”

“Part of what makes this duality work is because he is by definition ‘One of A Kind,'" Chance continued, speaking about their friendship on a deeper level. "Therefore I’ve always known him and will never know him. I’m content with that."

May this bromance continue to flourish and produce incredible music. Amen.
