Kanye West Squads Up With Gucci Mane, Big Sean, Desiigner and More for 'Cruel Winter' Single
This weekend just got a lot more turnt.
Kanye West just unearthed a single off his long-rumored G.O.O.D. Music collective Cruel Winter album. “Champions,” featuring Gucci Mane, Big Sean, Desiigner, Yo Gotti, 2 Chainz, Travi$ Scott and Quavo, is a monster and was premiered on Big Boy’s 92.3 program.
Kanye was also up in the studio with the Los Angeles radio host and dropped a little knowledge about the song. "I had the basic beat for a year and a half. It sounded right for this project," he told Big Boy. "This is the hook we should have for the first single." West also explained how he went about gathering the artists for the posse cut. It’s more random than you’d think.
"A lot of times it's just the energy in the studio, whoever is coming by,” he explained. “And then we get to talk about who would sound nice on the track."
Finally during his interview with Big Boy, ‘Ye was asked about his controversial Taylor Swift lyric and whether he really talked to the country pop star. He confirmed that he did, and explained that "music is all we got. It's our only opportunity to fully express ourselves."
Footage recently surfaced of Kanye West working with Big Sean in the studio. Could part of this song have been recorded during that session?
Hear the world premiere of “Champions” below.
