Here's Why Jhené Aiko Says It's 'Uncomfortable' To Perform With Big Sean

Her reasoning may shock you.

Jhené Aiko has previously admitted that her current boyfriend, Big Sean, is the love of her life, and she even has the tattoo of his face on her body to prove it. But even with all that love floating around, the singer says it doesn’t make it any easier to perform with him on stage. In fact, in the Trip artist’s latest cover story for the Nov. 2017 issue of NYLON Magazine, she confessed that it’s actually uncomfortable to share the stage with him.

“It’s strange performing with him, because I think he’s so attractive that it’s weird for me to sing to him,” she admitted. I still have a crush on him,” she said.

Even with that awkwardness, Jhené said it’s fairly easy for them to maintain a healthy relationship regardless of their busy schedules. “Maintaining a relationship with the rapper while balancing their demanding schedules is easy,” she insisted. “We trust each other, so there’s nothing to worry about… With cellphones, it’s easier. It’s like, ‘I love you, goodnight. Good morning, I love you, TTYL.’”

Jhene and Sean have collaborated on a number of songs over the years. In addition to being featured on her latest studio album, Trip, the two previously released a joint project, TWENTY88, in Apr. 2016. Most recently, the two took the stage on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform their soulful duet “Moments,” off Jhené’s latest project.

So the singer may feel the butterflies swirling around in her stomach, but all we see is passion and chemistry. These two probably have a lot more live performances lined up in the future. Maybe practice will help calm those nerves. Check out a video of their performance below.
