Our hearts go out to Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Crips following news that the rap collective has lost one of their own.

  1. It’s with a heavy heart we write that Jamarr Stamps, widely known as Bad Azz, has reportedly passed away at the age of 43 on Monday (Nov. 11). The Long Beach OG rose to prominence in the ‘90s as part of D.P.G.C. and for his collaborations with rap icons Snoop Dogg, Bizzy Bone, Tupac Shakur, Warren G and many others. Although he’s been more low profile in recent years, the MC has continued to put out a steady string of releases over the years.

  2. DPG flagbearer Daz Dillinger confirmed the tragic news via social media on Monday night. He paid his condolences to his fallen brother-in-rhyme on Instagram where he shared a picture of Bad Azz to his official page.

“R I P TO THE HOMEY BAD AZZ @badazzlbc JAMAR STAMPS DPGC MEMBER,” Daz wrote alongside a photo of the late rapper.

  3. The Doggfather paid his respects a few hours later on his own Instagram where he wrote, “R. I. P. To my young. D. P. G. L. L. G. L. B. C. Crew original @badazzlbc gone 2 soon.” In a second post honoring the West Coast mainstay, Snoop published another photo of Bad Azz with a broken heart emoji alongside a set of prayer hands.

  4. According to HipHopDX, Stamps reportedly died while he was being held at the Southwest Detention Center in California. A cause of death has not been officially reported at this time, but the loss has left the West Coast rap community reeling as they mourn their close friend.

  5. West Coast OG Kokane took to Facebook where he paid his final respects to the “Wrong Idea” rapper, writing, “Gone to soon...rest well lil bro. [You] will be missed.”

Ice T also shared his shock at Stamps’ sudden passing on Twitter, writing, “Man!!! Just hearing about the loss of another soldier.. .Waaaay [too] soon! RestInPeace Lil Homie... BadAzz DoggPoundGangsterCrip.”

  6. BET sends its heartfelt prayers and condolences to Jamarr Stamps’ loved ones during this difficult time.
