R&B singer Ray J has tossed his name into the ring in the hat to be considered Instagram Live “Verzuz” battle.

  1. With Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s highly-popular virtual battle series taking over as a major form of entertainment during quarantine, a lot of artists have been jockeying for the chance to show off their catalog. And, it seems Ray J wants in.

During the livestream of Teddy Riley and Babyface’s battle earlier this week, some astute viewers peeped the R&B singer and reality star  in the comment section where he proposed that he get a turn at bat. “Yo [Timbaland], I’m up next! Who want the smoke?” Ray J wrote.

  2. It didn’t take long for his comment to circulate across social media, and people have been weighing in with their opinions. While some were derisive towards his request, a fair share of supporters came to his defense and backed up his claim by pointing to his hits such as “Wait A Minute (ft. Lil’ Kim)” and “Sexy Can I (ft. Yung Berg).”

“Ray J wants to do an IG live battle, and I say let 'em. He can play ‘Wait A Minute’ and clear the place out,” one person commented on Twitter. Others listed off some of his contemporaries that Ray J could possibly face off against, including Fabolous, Bobby Valentino, and Pleasure P.
