Drake Reveals Recent Injury Landed Him In The Hospital

The rapper delivered a touching message thanking frontline workers for “holding everything together” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Some of the biggest Canadian-born stars, including Justin Beiber, Celine Dion, and Alessia Cara gave their support to those on the coronavirus frontline in the Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble televised benefit honoring the country’s healthcare workers.

  • But it was rapper Drake who closed out the broadcast special with a thoughtful message expressing his gratitude for them selflessly risking their lives to help out others in a time of need. He shared that he got to see that selflessness first-hand after he suffered a foot injury that led to him being admitted to a hospital.

  • “I wanna send all my love, all my gratitude, all my support out to the frontline workers, the first responders, the healthcare workers. I actually ended up in the hospital the other day due to a foot injury,” he said, though he did not state a cause.

“Just to see the morale, the smiles, the high spirits on everyone's face that I got to encounter in that situation despite everything that's going,” Drake continued. “It’s just incredible to see people who have to leave their families everyday and go to work in this crisis as dangerous as it.”

  • He called frontline healthcare workers “the glue that is holding everything together.” The “Hotline Bling” rapper went on to offer some words of comfort for those that might be struggling with their mental health while self-quarantining.

Drake encouraged people to use the time to better themselves and work on their craft during this hard time. “I want to urge everybody that's in their own space to find the silver lining in the times we're living through right now If you have a craft that can be worked on from home, it is an amazing thing to keep on working, keep your mind stimulated,” he said.

In closing, he encouraged people to keep their spirits up and keep the frontline healthcare workers in our thoughts.

  • Drake has been making use of his quarantine time to finish his highly-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, although fans speculate the project will arrive sometime in the summer.
