How Jay-Z Came Through For Ahmaud Arbery Family And Lawyer

“We started losing hope till we got a call from Jay Z’s people.”

Yesterday, Ahmaud Arbery’s family moved one step closer to getting justice for their slain loved one during the preliminary court hearing for his accused killers who are charged with felony murder.

  • But, Blerim Elmazi and S. Lee Merritt, the lawyers representing Arbery’s family, shared they almost didn’t make it to the courtroom. With no flights available, they were racing against the clock to find an alternative means of transportation. Elmazi said they started losing hope until Jay-Z stepped in to assist.

According to Instagram posts from Elmazi and Merrit, the Roc Nation mogul lent them his private jet so they could make it to the hearing on time in Georgia.

  • “Court hearing in Brunswick, Georgia this morning. No flights to take us there last night. @leemerrittesq and I spent hours trying to find flights or cars,” Elmazi captioned an image of him and Merrit standing in front of a white jet holding red T-shirts emblazoned with "legal observer."

“At 1 am we started losing hope till we got a call from Jay Z’s people at Roc Nation who chartered a flight for us to attend this hearing with the family of Ahmaud Arbery. Thankful for their support.”

  • This gesture from Hov comes after he paid tribute to Arbery by taking out multiple ads in newspapers across the nation calling for police reform. Previously, Team Roc released an open letter demanding action be taken against Greg McMichael, his son, Travis, and their accomplice, William Bryan.
