Rising Brooklyn drill rapper Fivio Foreign has set the record straight following reports that he was shot in Atlanta over the weekend.
On Sunday (August 9), fans of the rapper went into a frenzy after unverified reports began to spread that Fivio had been shot, or worse, killed in a shooting that occurred outside of Atlanta nightclub Elleven45, where he was slated to perform at an event. Conflicting information about the alleged incident quickly spread across social media, causing fans to become worried about Fivio’s well-being. Their concern intensified after footage of an SUV riddled with bullet holes that purportedly belonged to Fivio surfaced online.
It appeared his fans’ worst nightmare had come true after Murda Beatz seemingly confirmed Fivio's alleged killing. The hip-hop producer posted a picture on his Snapchat with the caption, “Rap game f***ed up. RIP Fivio.” Thankfully, the rumors turned out to be false after a number of those within the hip-hop community took to social media to clear up the speculation and confirm Fivio’s safety.
“I just got word that Fivio is OK,” producer Kenny Beats tweeted. Hip-hop journalist Rob Markman also passed along via Twitter that he “just got word that Fivio is good. Not sure what exactly happened, but hearing that he is good.” Fellow New York rapper Rah Swish took to Instagram where he clarified that ““Fivio is not shot or injured or was shot at. Had nothing to do with that situation.”
Beatz later deleted his post and apologized for spreading false information. “My deepest apologies,” he wrote. “I got a call from a friend in Atlanta who gave me false information. Thank god he’s okay and sorry for posting without confirmation [to] anyone I upset by my mistake.”
On Sunday (August 9), Fivio Foreign took to Twitter to personally reassure his worried fans that he was fine and not injured.
“Thanx [to] all my demons for bein’ concerned ‘bout me..I’m fine,” he wrote. “I don’t stay safe, I stay dangerous. I move around w[ith] God. Trust me I’m good.”
CBS 46 confirmed that a shooting did occur at the Elleven45 nightclub. It appears that gunshots rang out at the venue prior to Fivio’s scheduled performance. Several vehicles were found riddled with bullets when the police arrived at the scene, though no additional details about the shooting outside of the club have been made available. There were no gunshot victims on the scene.
