Ashanti And Keyshia Cole ‘Verzuz’ Postponed After One Tests Positive For COVID-19
Fans anticipating Ashanti and Keyshia Cole square off in a Verzuz battle tonight (December 12) are unfortunately going to have to wait.
The hit-to-hit was reportedly cancelled after Ashanti tested positive for the coronavirus. The virtual event was months in the making, which built huge anticipation for millions of fans.
Taking to her Instagram account this afternoon, Ashanti posted a text picture announcing the sad news. “Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m ok and not in any pain,” she wrote. “I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… we’re trying to figure it all out!!!”
A new date for the Verzuz battle has been set for January 9.
Earlier this year, Cole teased the then-potential battle on her Instagram. “My fans sent me this [Timbaland], [Swizz Beatz], [Ashanti]. Is this accurate?” she commented on a post that ranked both her and Ashanti’s hits and even tagged the Verzuz IG account.
