Paul Walker Dies in Car Crash

The Fast & Furious star was 40 years old.


Paul Walker
, best known for his leading role in the Fast & the Furious franchise, is dead at 40. The actor was killed in a car crash resulting in an explosion in Santa Clarita, California on Saturday afternoon, his spokesperson confirms.
Walker, who spent the day at a charity event for his organization Reaching Out Worldwide, was killed instantly when the driver of the vehicle he was in lost control of the car and crashed it. The vehicle had erupted into flames by the time sheriff's deputies arrived. 
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident," a statement on his official Facebook page reads. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences."
Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, who lived with him. 
The actor, who rose to fame after roles in Pleasantville and Varsity Blues, is mourned by many of his co-stars. Immediately following the news of his death, messages poured in on Twitter. Among those who expressed grief over Walker's death were his Fast and the Furious co-star Ludacris, his 1999 She's All That co-star Gabrielle Union and Kevin Hart.
"There are no words," tweeted Union. "Someone pls say this is just another absurd internet hoax."  Michael B. Jordan added, "Man life is so short. People you care about can be here one min and gone the next. Don't take life for granted RIP Paul Walker."
"I'm a devastated right now," tweeted Hart. "My prayers & condolences go out to Paul Walkers family & friends. He was a amazing talent & will truly b missed."
