Odell Beckham Jr. loves to dance, and sometimes he loves to dance with his male friends, but that doesn't mean we should jump to any conclusions. At least, according to his sometimes dance partner and former LSU teammate Kavahra Holmes.
After a number of videos showing off Beckham's dance moves — some featuring Holmes — fueled speculation that the New York Giants player is gay, his pal felt the need to speak out and clarify. "It's crazy how we been brothers for so long and if anybody really knows us know anywhere we go they see us being clowns and dancing but of course it's made as 'we gay,'" wrote Holmes on Instagram.
He continued, "Strictly brotherhood and just cuz we dancing having fun don't make us gay.. I dance with our [sic] without him and vice versa so the 'gay' comments really funny .. We laughing ... But we gone keep dancing lol."
Indeed, Holmes's Instagram is full of videos of him hitting the dab, whipping, nae-naeing and doing just about every other dance out there. Beckham, who was the subject of homophobic slurs by Carolina Panthers Josh Norman earlier this month, is also clearly a new breed of NFL player, refusing to be typecast as a masculine jock. He is clearly comfortable in his own skin.
Hopefully, NFL culture will become more open-minded, but in the mean time, we encourage Beckham, Holmes and anyone else who feels like it to keep dancing:
