Ray J Explains Hotel Arrest

Singer says he never meant to spit on a police officer, and he kicked out a squad car window because he was claustrophobic.

Reports behind Ray J's arrest at a Beverly Hills, Calif., hotel last Friday (May 30) night aren't completely accurate, according to the singer/reality star.

Ray, legally known as Willie Ray Norwood Jr., was busted after he grabbed an unidentified woman's backside at the Regent Wilshire Hotel. When cops came to the scene they ruled the situation incidental. Ray agreed to leave, then changed his mind. Authorities say he became unruly and later kicked out a squad car window, in addition to spitting on a cop.

The 33-year-old was taken into custody for vandalism, trespassing, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer.

In his defense, Ray claims that hotel management spun the arrest story because he and friends were being too loud at the bar earlier in the night. He says he didn't intentionally spit on anyone, and broke the window because he became "very claustrophobic" inside the squad car.

Ray posted $20,000 bail and was released from custody the next morning. A court date has been set for July 25.
