Shad Moss Leaves Cash Money

Rapper thanks Birdman, and moves on, says, "Now I have two iconic legends who are backing me."

The Cash Money exodus continues. Shad Moss announced on Saturday (May 9) that he's leaving the label he called home for the past six years, but unlike some of his former labelmates, like Lil Wayne and Tyga, he calls the parting of ways a "peaceful situation."
In a video message posted to his Facebook page, Moss explains that while he still has "so much respect" for YMCMB boss Birdman, his reason for leaving the label is the same as the other disgruntled artists who fled citing unreasonable delays in releasing their music.

“I just felt like I had to part ways, y’all,” he explained. “I wanna dictate when my music comes out. I’m tired of going in the studio and making records, and then, you know, I listen to them. Then they get old, and y’all ask for new music and I put it out, it’s like I don’t even wanna hear it, ‘cause I been listening to it for two or three months. That has to stop, man. I got so many records, man. They just gotta be heard, I feel like it’s unfair. And I just can’t be held up by nobody.”

Moss does say, however, that he "never had other issues that a lot of other artists are having" with Birdman.

As for his next move, he announces that he has teamed up with Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg, who first discovered him when he was five years old. "Now I have two iconic legends who are backing me up 1,00 percent, and that’s all I wanted,” he said. “I just wanted a team that believed in me. I wanted a team who understood my vision and was ready to go to war with me.”
