LL Cool J Just Broke The Record For Shortest Hip Hop Retirement

Literally hours...

LL Cool J has jokes. Within a few hours we went from thinking he hung up the mic to now knowing he’s back in the game stronger than ever.

After going on a now-deleted Twitter rant, the legendary emcee-turned actor announced he was retiring, but then announced he was coming out of retirement to “massacre the rap game.” He also revealed that he’s “starting a new album,” which makes more sense considering he just collaborated with Dr. Dre on some new music.

Originally LL seemed to be subtweeting numerous people in a Kanye-esque series of tweets. He made statements like, "I want fans vs haters to start making wagers on my next album... my day 1s should bet big. I got this," and, “Use haters like wood in a fire place ... let them heat up your passion.”

If LL Cool J were to drop an album this year it would be his first since 2013’s Authentic. It’d also be his fourteenth. Every one of his previous LP has appeared on the Billboard 200 chart.

Check out some of LL’s tweets about his status in the rap game below.
