Their time as teammates with the Los Angeles Lakers lasted one season (2012-13) before Howard joined the Houston Rockets, unable to assert himself in the presence of the Black Mamba. Their feud only grew when the center threw an elbow at Bryant last season, causing the five-time NBA champion to yell "try me" in his direction.
But when Bryant announced his retirement Sunday and a New York Times reporter asked Howard what he learned from the future Hall of Famer, the center showed he still feels salty about the legend. Either that...or he seriously didn't learn anything from the veteran in his one year in LA. You decide.
To give Howard some credit, he did pepper Bryant with some flattery, as a New York Post reporter documented.
So, 20 years in the league...and you couldn't learn anything from him? OK, Dwight.
Let's see if Howard will give it up to Bryant when the Lakers visit the Rockets next Saturday in Houston.
