Forget Kevin Durant: Russell Westbrook Is About to Get Paid This Much in OKC

It pays to stay.

No wonder Russell Westbrook responded to Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City by laughing.

Perhaps Russ knew something that we didn't at the time.

Sources are telling ESPN that the five-time All-Star point guard and back-to-back All-Star MVP has reached an agreement in principle on a new three-year contract extension worth $85.7 million. In other words, KD who?

Ironically, the news comes exactly a month after KD shockingly announced that he's leaving OKC to sign with the Golden State Warriors.

Westbrook's reported new deal would have his salary bump up from $17.8 million next season to the maximum $26.5 million for the next two years thereafter.

We guess it pays to stay, huh, Russ?

Westbrook averaged 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game last season.

Now that we know Russ is staying with the Thunder, it's going to truly be must-see TV when KD and the Warriors visit OKC next season.

Can't wait.
