Kevin Durant, a free-agent all-NBA forward, reportedly plans to sign a four-year, $164 million contract to play for the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN.

Durant joins Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, who also reportedly plans to sign with the franchise. Irving’s deal will also be four years but for $141 million. The new additions to the Nets can officially sign their contracts starting July 6.

  1. Durant’s departure from the Golden State Warriors isn’t unexpected, however, many believed Brooklyn wouldn’t be his destination. New York City’s other team, the Knicks, seemed to be in the driver’s seat to land the two-time NBA champion.

Kevin Durant declined his $31.5 million player option earlier this month, officially setting him up for unrestricted free agency. The contractual move didn’t necessarily mean Durant was departing the Warriors as he was eligible to remain with the team on a five-year, $221 million deal.
