Nipsey Hussle (born Ermias Asghedom) was a rapper/entrepreneur from Los Angeles. Emerging from the West Coast hip-hop scene in 2005, Hussle garnered mainstream attention for his mixtapes — Bullets Ain't Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues and Crenshaw — which landed him in XXL Magazine's 2010 Freshmen class. Since his start in the industry, he’s built his reputation working with artists like Drake, Lloyd and Snoop Dogg. With his status in rap cemented, the MC launched other ventures — including two music agencies, a burger joint, a fish market, a barbershop, SC Commercial Ventures, and Marathon Clothing store. The rapper's made a return to rap in 2018 with his critically acclaimed debut studio album, Victory Lap, his only commercial release. The album received a 2019 Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. On March 31, the 33-year-old was shot dead near his Los Angeles clothing store. The rapper leaves behind two children, Emani from a previous relationship, and Kross whom he shared with his girlfriend, actress Lauren London.
